03. JAM Round

We are here sharing the experience of some students who cleared Deloitte.

Inputs from student 01

01. JAM stands for Just A Minute.

02. This round was held over a zoom call and students were divided into panels. Each panel had 14 students.

03. In this round, each student was asked to choose a number between 1 to 40 and based on the number chosen by the student, a topic was assigned by the panelist.

04. Each student was given 1 minute to think and 1 minute to explain the advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion of the given topic.

05. Some of the topics given were the use of VR in the workspace, banning electronics in schools, the role of social media in families, using 3D printing in solving real-world problems, etc.

Inputs from student 02

01. This is known as the Just-A-Minute round, where the interviewer will give you a topic and you will have 2 minutes to think and speak about the topic. You have to talk for at least 1 minute.

02. In one panel there were 15 candidates and 40 topics were present, each one has to pick a number and the respective topic was given to us. We had only one chance to change the topic if we were not comfortable with the first topic. Once we change the topic there is no going back to the first topic. So be careful while changing the topic.

03. And note that the topics are once chosen can’t be chosen by other candidates.

04. Take your time to think and then start to speak, don’t rush.

05. Always conclude the topic at the end.

06. Be confident and fluent.

Inputs from student 03

JAM (just a minute round): This round is like an impromptu speech. Here we will get 2 minutes in which we can think about the topic at first and we have to speak a minimum of 1 minute continuously about the given topic. i.e. we can think about the topic at most 1 minute and then we can speak.

First, when we enter this round we need to tell a random number between 1-40 and we will get the topic based on the number. We can change the topic only once by telling another random number. All topics are related to technology. And we need to tell at least one advantage one disadvantage and a conclusion.

When I entered this round the interviewer was taking this round to someone and there are 3 people who are waiting to attend this interview and here we can’t say the same number which was already told by someone else. Here I have got the topic as “Recommendation system in e-commerce” and I have thought about the given topic around 1 minute and then I started speaking about the given topic for 1 minute.

First I told that what is this recommendation system and given an example and then told its advantage and disadvantage and finally concluded the topic. Other topics which my friends got are: “AI in healthcare”, “Cryptocurrency”, “3D printing” “Technology in sports sector” etc. 115 students cleared this round and were selected for a panel interview.

Inputs from student 04

01. You will be asked to choose a number from 1-40, against which there will be a topic. —

02. You will be given two minutes to think and speak, you have to divide the time accordingly. —

03. Preferably 15 seconds to think and 1.45 minutes to speak. Include all the valid points within the time, do not exceed the time. —

04. Topics were easy and technology-based. —

05. I got a topic called “Technology in space Research.” —

06. Others got topics like “technology in sports”, “voice call vs video call” etc.

Inputs from student 05

01. You should be fluent in English.

02. Whatever the topic you get accept it, even you don’t know about the topic much but change the topic if you don’t know about it at all.

03. The time given is exactly one min to jam and 30-40 sec for Preparing.

04. I Prefer you start talking about the topic right away with a simple greeting.

05. Refer to quora for the topic Bcz many of them were repeated.

Inputs from student 06

Here, we need to choose a number in the given range. The interviewer will tell you the topic corresponding to the number chosen. You are given 30 seconds to think on the topic, and 1 minute to speak on this topic.

It is basically an impromptu speech by you. ¡I was asked to speak on the Impact of IoT in daily lives. Some other topics asked for my panel were Usage of Online meeting tools, Cryptocurrency, AI in Health sectors, AI in Sports, and Social Media Influencers.

This is the most important round. You need to give your best in JAM! Do not repeat the sentences. Be application-focused. In one minute, you need to include the introduction, one pro, and a con of that particular topic. ¡Out of 225, 115 students cleared the JAM Round.

Inputs from student 07

The second round was a ‘JAM’ round or Just-A-Minute, wherein you were given a topic to speak about for at least one minute. The procedure was very simple. There were 11 candidates in one Zoom call along with a member from the interview panel. There were 40 topics.

When the panel member called out your name, you had to select a number and you would be given the topic corresponding to that number. In case you were not comfortable with the given topic, you could pick another number, but then you were not allowed to go back to the first topic, so this was a tricky choice. Once a number is picked, the topic is canceled out, irrespective of whether the candidate chooses it or not.

Once you confirm that you are okay with the topic, the panel member would start the timer. You were given a total of 2 minutes 1 to formulate ideas and 1 to speak. You could start speaking before the initial 1 minute was over but try to utilize it for preparing as much as you can.

Some JAM round topics(122 students cleared this round)

  • Using technology for sustainable agriculture.
  • Classroom learning vs. e-learning.
  • Replacing on-field umpires with technology.
  • Usage of 3-D printing in solving real-world problems.
