Cognizant Hiring Process, Eligibility Criteria, Oline And Technical Questions

Hello guys, welcome back to my blog. In this article, I will discuss the Cognizant hiring process, eligibility criteria, interview questions, student information, Cognizant interview questions asked in technical and HR round, etc.

Cognizant Hiring Process

Cognizant continues to be one of the top recruiters of high-quality engineering, science, management, and other talent from premier campuses across the country. As we approach the recruitment season for the batch of 2021, I am sure you would be interested to know more about our strategy and plans. I am pleased to inform you that Cognizant is geared up and ready for the campus-hiring season this year. Our key focus will be on hiring talent for our digital battlegrounds ― Cloud, Data, Digital Engineering, and Internet of Things (IoT) and in other strategic areas such as cybersecurity, Salesforce, and business modernization technologies.

Campus hiring season for Cognizant will commence from mid-October 2020.  Outlined below is our approach that intends to offer opportunities to students with diverse skills and abilities. As always, we will be looking for candidates with strong analytical aptitude and cognitive abilities. Additionally, we wish to identify individuals who are already skilled, have proven credentials in IT challenges, and are capable of taking on larger, challenging roles.

Opportunity, expectation, and offers provided by Cognizant

It offers two roles one is GenC and another one is GenC Next.

RoleExpectation from candidateOffer
GenC· Individuals who are agile learners with outstanding analytical abilities.
· Candidates with the ability to comprehend complex problems and deliver smart solutions.
· Knowledge of programming is recommended but not mandatory.
INR 4 Lakhs / Annum
GenC Next· Technically proficient candidates with high programming and matured coding skills.
· Candidates should be able to solve technology challenges and offer a rational explanation of the solution.
· The output should adhere to mature coding standards and abide by configuration rules.
INR 6.5 to 7 Lakhs / Annum

Cognizant Hiring Process

01. In the first round there will be aptitude and code debugging. If the candidate’s performance is excellent in the first round then he is eligible for GenC Next round 2. Suppose if the candidate’s performance is medium then he is eligible for the GenC round.

02. In GenC round 2 there will be interviews on technical, cognitive abilities, and the right attitude. If the candidate clears round 2 then he will be offered 4.5 lakhs rupees per year.

03. In the GenC Next round 2 there will be an interview on problem articulation, algorithm capabilities, programming concepts cognitive abilities, and the right attitude. If the candidate clears round 2 then he will be offered 6.75 lakhs per year.

Before Joining

They will provide a 3-6 month Cognizant Internship or Cognizant recommended skill certification.

Eligibility Criteria While Cognizant Hiring Process

01. 2021 batch of BE / B Tech / ME / M Tech/MCA & MS Software Engineering (Five years integrated course degree) students only.

02. Consistent academic record of a minimum of 60% in X, XII, Diploma, UG & PG (all subjects will be taken into consideration) calculated as below.

  • Aggregate% = sum of all subjects marks scored / total no. of subjects (as of last semester result declared)

03. No standing arrears in current education.

04. Maximum of 2 years’ gap in education.

05. At the time of joining, all recruits need to have a minimum 60% aggregate (all subjects will be taken into consideration) in the pursuing degree with no standing arrears.

06. Students applied for re-evaluation and waiting for the results would be considered with the initial results score declared.

07. Appropriate CGPA to % conversion to be considered as per University norms.

08. Strong written and communication skills.

09. Open only to Indian nationals.

10. Flexible to relocate anywhere in India, work in any shift/domain.

Student Information

01. Students must upload their resume with embedded photographs, all academic documents including school certificates and college semester mark sheets, Govt. ID proof scanned as ONE .pdf file, during test registration (Mandatory process to appear for the test).

02. Students should have soft copies of the below-mentioned documents ready to be shared during an online interview.

a) Resume (maximum of 2 pages) with high-resolution passport size photographs embedded (both ears must be visible, with light background).

b) All academic mark sheets and certificates for verification.

c) Aadhar card, Passport (front & back page), PAN Card (if available).

Cognizant Hiring Process

Round 1: Online Test

The online test consist of four rounds:

01. Aptitude: Permutation and combination, Logarithms, Probability, Time and Work, Time Speed Distance, Simplification, Percentages, SI &CI, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, etc.

02. Logical Reasoning: Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Directional Sense, Syllogism, Seating Arrangements, Data sufficiency, etc.

03. Automata Fix(Code Debugging): This section consists of 7 questions 20 minutes. The 7 questions can be solved in c/c++/java and will be of:

  • Logical Error debugging.
  • Syntax Error debugging.
  • Code Completion.

Automata questions asked-Half reverse the array, sorting of an array, finding min and max in the array, the difference in time program, sorting of an array, Fibonacci series, count digits, pattern programs.

04. Writing Ability: Given a situation asked to write 200 words about it.

Round 2: Technical + HR Round While Cognizant Hiring Process

01. Introduce Yourself.

Cognizant technical and HR interview questions asked for civil student 02:

01. Tell me about yourself.

02. What are the subjects that are difficult for you? (don’t say programming though).

03. Why do you want to join an IT company being a non-IT student?

04. What are your favorite subjects?

05. Tell me about the projects you have done.

06. How did you overcome the problems and difficulties during the projects? Explain with example.

07. What did you learn from the projects? (non-technical things like teamwork etc..)

08. Can you relocate if required? Can you work on weekends?

09. Any questions? (Please ask any question, if the interviewer asks this).

10. Write a code fragment for reversing the array elements. (Any programming language is fine.)

11. What is Newton’s First Law?

12. What is the law of superposition?

13. What is meant by equilibrium?

14. What is the slump test? And what are the different types of slumps?

15. What is a perfect frame? (Asked in the sense of structural frame).

16. What is surveying? Explain in detail. nA standard aptitude question on finding the age of a person, like, Age of x is n years less than that of y. After k years, the age of y will be z times that of x. Find the present age of x.

17. What are some new innovations in civil engineering?

01. Introduce yourself.

02. Questions related to Exploration, mini & minor projects. (Role in the project!!!).

03. C (pointers, Storage classes, rev string program, variables).

04. C++(features of C++ with real-time examples).

05. Any Challenges faced and how did you overcome them.

06. Strengths & Weaknesses.

07. ECE Basic core questions(diode, resistor, CDMA, oscillator, accumulator,8051.. Refer top 100 ece questions in google).

01. Explanation about the projects which are on your resume.

04. Displayed 2 aptitude questions and was asked to solve. One was from profit and loss and the other from probability.

05. Questions on the essay topic.

06. Questions on DBMS -What is the clustering index.

07. Explain  data structure.

08. Asked about family background.

09. Weakness and Strengths.

10. Areas of interest.

11. Toughest Decision in life.

12. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years.

13. Any problem with reallocation.

Cognizant technical and HR interview questions asked for electrical and electronics student 05:

01. Projects that you have mentioned in your resume.

02. Explaining your contribution to the project is very important.

03. There will be a thorough questioning on your final year mentioned project, so you need to make sure that you know every bit of your mentioned project.

04. There will be questions related to your favorable Coding languages like C, C++, etc.

05. Other than this there will be questions related to your internship(not compulsory).

06. The technical round will be around 20-25 mins.

Cognizant conducts their HR interview round to judge your personality, strengths, and weaknesses, background, capabilities and most importantly to see if you are the right person for the job.

09. How did you spend your time in the COVID-19 pandemic?

10. What are your strengths and weakness?

11. What are the leadership qualities a person should possess?

13. For EE students: Are you comfortable working in an IT company being a EE student?

(Give a convincing answer to the above question as it is the most possible question).

Cognizant technical and HR interview questions asked for mechanical student 06:

Technical Questions:

01. Asked about Mechanically related topics like Hooke’s law, stress-strain curve, thermal stress, Gibbs free energy, different kinds of flow, newton’s laws, etc.

02. Asked about C programming topics like pointers, strings, arrays, data types.

03. Interviewers gave 1-3 aptitude questions to solve. (compulsory for everyone).

04. Ask about modern trends in technology.

05. Be prepared with the projects and internships did so far.

Cognizant technical and HR interview questions asked for civil student 08:

Technical interview eperience

01. As I m from civil background all basics related to c programming ,data structure were asked.

02. If you are from non-it background be thorough with at least 1 programming language.

03. No deep knowledge is required to get selected because they will train you as per requirements once u get selected.

04. As I was from Non-IT background civil related questions in technical round was also asked.

05. Questions regarding soil CBR value, national building code and its bylaws and influence diagram were covered during my interview.

06. My interview duration was about 45min which included tech and HR round together.

07. Confidence is what plays a major role.

08. Be honest and straightforward at whatever you answer.

09. For me most of the case study related situations were put up .

10. Example – my question was ur relative is in hospital under serious situation and you have a client call by 5 and even you need to go to hospital at 5 exactly then what would you do?.
