PCB Design Engineer

It’s a design of an electrical or electronic circuit. Almost all electronic circuits in engineering and in the industry are manufactured by making use of PCBs. The boards which will be used to make PCB design are made with a special type of materials like conducting materials, glass, and fiber, which do not conduct electricity until the board is dipped into the solvent.

The circuits will be designed on the boards with copper tracks instead of using wires, to pass electricity between electronic components.

Skills required for PCB design engineer:

You should be strong in fabrication skills, soldering on desoldering SMT parts. Also, you must be strong in photocopying skills. You must have good electrical evaluation testing and PCB troubleshooting skills. You should have the capacity to demonstrate, just by applying state-of-the-art PCB layout and packaging. You have to be an expert in electrical drawing and schematic interpretation, multimeter, oscilloscopes, data logging.

Other general skills that you need are good oral and written communication with the ability to read and develop and understand documentation.

Scope for PCB design engineer

The scope for PCB designing is too bright there are so many indications in the market to show that, there is clearly a lot of opportunities in this PCB designing field. With the competitive growth in consumer electronics and automotive industries the rise of making new cool smart products is increasing. In the market, a huge number of small products with smart features are made with IoT.

For all these products you have to design a circuit on a small PCB, which is becoming a must. Suppose, if you want to make a regulated power supply, then also you need to design PCB. Today’s world is full of digital with lots of electronic products. So to design electronic circuits, PCB design engineers are required.

Salary for PCB design engineer

The salary of a PCB design engineer depends upon your expertise. If you have the capacity to design high-speed boards then you get more salary. For freshers, Salary will be low but once you become an expert of course you will get a good salary and also it depends upon the company. We can predict the average salary of a PCB design engineer is Rs. 6,83,000 per annum.

Process of making possible PCB

PCB Making
  1. First, design the circuit as per your requirement by using tools such as EasyEDA, proteus, etc.
  2. Save the design in pdf format and take out the print on magazine paper.
  3. After printing out, cut the paper and keep it on the board(which is made up of material such as glass, and conducting layer.
  4. Do iron on the paper for 15 minutes, once the iron is done mark the tracks with the permanent marker.
  5. Then dip the board into the solvent for one hour and shake it properly.
  6. After that, you will see the conducting tracks.
  7. Then drill board by drilling machine or do it manually.
  8. After drilling, place the components and do soldering.
  9. You can watch my three videos on PCB design, I will add the video below.

This was about “PCB Design Engineer”. I hope this article may help you all a lot. Thank you for reading.
