Why Birds Will Not Get An Electric Shock When They Site On Wire

Hello guys, welcome back to my blog. In this article, I will discuss why birds will not get an electric shock when they sit on a wire, what happens if a human touches the wire, will humans get an electric shock if he/she touches, will a person die, etc. Each and everything I will try to explain in an easy way.

Why Birds Will Not Get An Electric Shock When They Site On Wire?

Are you confused? Why birds will not get an electric shock when they sit on transmission and distribution lines. Well, then this article is for you, read this article till the end because I will discuss some major points. Whenever you get a chance to go and see the line and absorb it carefully, if you are an electrical engineer then you will get an answer in mind immediately.

There are two reasons why a bird will not get electric stock. Let’s discuss one by one.

01. Closed-Loop

The birds will always sit on either phase wire or neutral wire. If the bird sits on phase wire then the bird will not get an electric shock because to flow the current through the body there should be a closed circuit. Suppose if a bird site on phase wire and feather of bird by chance touches the neutral wire then the bird will get an electric shock because a short circuit or closed-loop is completed through the body and then-current starts flowing through the body then soon bird will die.

Or else if a bird touches the ground or PCC pole then the bird will get an electric shock due to the closed circuit. Well, now you got to know how the birds will get an electric shock. Now I will discuss one more reason why birds will not get an electric shock.

02. Path

When the bird sits on the wire the current does not flow from one leg to another leg of bird because the resistance of the bird leg is very high nearly one mega-ohm. Well, we all know that current always choices the bath which has low resistance, the same thing happens in this case also, the resistance of the conductor is very low so current will flow through the wire, not from the body.

These are the two reasons why birds will not get an electric shock when they touch the wire.

Will human gets an electric shock?

Yes, human beings get an electric shock if he/she touches a wire with the ground or by touching both neutral or phase at a time. Unless the closed circuit is completed no one will get electric shock whether it may be human beings or birds.

I hope this article may help you all a lot. Thank you for reading. If you have any suggestions for me then comment below in the comment box.
