The functions of the master are:

  1. Communicate with the BMS slaves

  2. Control the battery-pack thermal-management system

  3. Monitor battery-pack electrical current and isolation (ground-fault detection)

  4. Control the contactors that connect the battery to the load

  5. Communicate with the host-application controller
