The assumptions to be made when designing the switched-mode power supply are:

  1. A large value of output capacitor – Because it will reduce the ripple or remove unwanted signals.
  2. Steady state – Analyze the circuit when the circuit is operating under steady state.
  3. “D-duty” ratio of switch.
  4. Switch and diode are ideal means we will not consider losses.
  5. Ideal transformer

These are the assumptions to be made when designing the switched-mode power supply.
